Under the MoU, both parties will facilitate trade and business information on their respective national economies to representatives of relevant industries. Moreover, both parties will encourage exchange of trade missions in order to build on the close friendly relations between governmental entities and companies of both countries.
The MoU was signed by the Deputy CEO of JIB, Mr. Elias Farraj and EMA’s President Prof. Dr. Horst Siedentopf during the Hamburg Environment Forum for the EMA Region which ended Wednesday in Germany.
The forum, which was held under the patronage of HRH Prince Hassan Bin Talal and the Hamburg Environmental Senator Jutta Blankau, gathered governmental and non-profit organizations in addition to representatives of the private sector from Germany and the Arab World.
The forum focused on key topics including the climate changes in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, renewable energy, water and waste management. Furthermore, the forum discussed environmental challenges most countries in the EMEA region will face in the 21st century such as global climate change and rapid population growth.
In an effort to tackle the impending environmental problems, the forum endeavored to construct a regional approach through full cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The Executive Director of The West Asia – North Africa Forum, Dr. Omar Rifai, inaugurated the forum and delivered a speech on behalf of HRH Prince El Hassan, which focused on sustainability and current issues facing the Middle East.
JIB’s Deputy CEO. Mr. Elias Farraj presented the kingdom’s potential in renewable energy by highlighting the country’s advantages in this field along with opportunities in the nuclear, wind and solar energies. Mr. Farraj demonstrated the natural endowments of the kingdom such as its ideal location within the world solar belt with 300-320 days of full sunshine and low humidity and wind speed of over 7m/s in several areas in the kingdom. Moreover, Mr. Farraj displayed several projects which are underway including the wind projects Al Khamshah and Fujeij.
