The new service, launched in collaboration with Samhouri Exchange, will enable Orange Money users to transfer money from the Kingdom to other countries with ease, convenience, and high levels of security. However, in its initial stage, this service will only cater to users wishing to transfer money to Egypt with the promise of more countries being added to its access list soon after.
This innovation is anticipated to especially benefit the large community of Egyptian workers living in the Kingdom who wish to transfer money to their families back home in Egypt, and especially those who live or work in rural areas where they may not have easy access to financial services or bank accounts.
To transfer money, the user has to register once for the service, and then select the desired amount, via the mobile handset, and the money will be transferred via Samhouri Exchange in no time to the desired recipient in the selected country.
The press conference was headed by CEO of Orange Jordan Mr. Jean-Francois Thomas with the presence of Orange Money Manager Mr. Sammy Tuffaha and Business development Manager Mr. Ayman Jabai.
Speaking at the event Mr. Thomas explained that this new service exemplifies Orange Jordan’s commitment to support all communities. He further stated that it is one of the many services offered by Orange, using cutting-edge technology for making subscribers’ lives simple, refreshing, and dynamic.
He added,“We are offering our subscribers the opportunity to transfer money to international destinationsfrom the convenience of their mobile handset at anytime and from anywhere, as we believe that this solution exemplifies convenience, and at Orange Jordan we are all about improving the quality of life. We feel that mobile financial services are the future of the communication era that we live in today. Therefore, we are building on the success that this service has shown in other markets and we realize that we are responding to a pressing market need when providing it in Jordan. We attribute the success of this service to the strong collaborations we form with market leaders in their respective fields. To this effect, we are proud to be partnering with Samhouri Exchange, as their impressive track record and their far-reaching network will ensure that we present a superior service for our subscribers. We anticipate that this partnership will bring about notable customer satisfaction”.
Orange Jordan first launched the Orange Money service in May 2012, thus enabling its subscribers to carry out all their financial transactions and payments using mobile phone. During the international transfer launch period, the service will be offered to users free of charge.
