Jotun launches energy-saving, environmentally friendly ‘Cool Shades Collection’ for architectural powder coatings

United Arab Emirates: Monday, May 10 - 2010 @ 11:52

The unique range is based on heat management pigment technology that reflect the infrared energy from sunlight and keeps coated surfaces much cooler, while still absorbing visible light energy to allow colours to maintain their vibrancy.

The ‘Cool Shades Collection’ offers a wide range of colours to match both modern and traditional architecture, and is an ideal application for window frames, curtain walls, shutters, louvers, and wall panels. Furthermore, the new collection is available in industry-leading high performance polyester powder coatings Corro-Coat PE-SDF Super Durable, as well as the standard architectural grade Corro-Coat PE-F Façade.

“Sustainable architecture ensures that what we do today will not limit opportunities for future generations, and we have created the ‘Cool Shades Collection’ based on this belief. The environmentally friendly properties of our new range speak of our commitment to addressing the issues pertaining to green building, green living and construction of buildings that enhance quality of life and minimise environmental impact.”

said Claudio Iurilli, Divisional Marketing Director, Jotun Powder Coatings.

As more and more structures are being completed in accordance to green building codes, with aims to achieve sustainability and increase efficiency, solutions that lessen buildings’ energy consumption are witnessing increasing demand. Complementing the most important green construction and maintenance processes, Jotun’s ‘Cool Shades Collection’ makes a real difference on indoor temperature by lessening heat build up indoors, thereby contributing to reduce the use of cooling systems that use precious resources and energy.

“The ‘Cool Shades Collection’ is another testament of our strong support for sustainable architecture. As a powder coating, it is environmentally friendly due to the absence of solvents, which results in the release of negligible amounts of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the air. In addition, our lead-free product can be disposed of easily and safely, while unused or over sprayed powder can be recovered and reused for minimal wastage,” concluded Iurilli.

Boasting of extensive experience in the fast-developing and highly demanding construction markets of the Middle East and South East Asia, Jotun Powder Coatings’ architectural products protect prestigious landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest man-made structure, and the 7-star hotel Burj Al Arab, both in Dubai, UAE. Other landmark projects coated with Jotun Powder Coatings’ are the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia and the Regatta residential district in Jakarta, Indonesia.
