JumpTV announces the addition of prestigious Dubai TV group of channels to its Internet television network

United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 27 - 2006 @ 08:49

Through JumpTV, these leading channels from the Dubai TV group will be available individually as well as part of an Arabic-language bundle.

“We wanted to leverage the strength of Dubai TV’s brand with the global distribution platform of the Internet to tap into Arabic communities around the world,” said Mr. Omar M. Bin Khediya of Dubai TV. “JumpTV is the clear leader in the Internet television space and their international distribution network fits nicely within our growth strategy. We’re quite excited about the opportunity to be at the forefront of this ever-changing new media world, and are looking forward to a long-term, fruitful relationship with JumpTV.”

The three channels are an important addition to JumpTV’s expanding scope of content from the Middle East, and feature some of the region’s best programming, including: family-friendly shows; coverage of international and regional sporting events (such as soccer matches and tennis tournaments); and Dubai TV’s highly debated show, “Maa Nashwa” (“With Nashwa”), which covers some of the most contentious issues of the Arab region and delves into issues related to the arts, theatre, and other forms of cultural expression. Other leading programs that will now be available on JumpTV include:

Dubai TV’s “Najm Al Khaleej,” a primetime entertainment show adapted from the original American format of “Nashville Star.” The show is a live, studio-based singing competition where 12 contestants from different Arab countries compete for the title of Najm Al Khaleej.

Dubai Sports’ “Al Mouajaha,” a weekly one-on-one talk show with sports celebrities.

Sama Dubai’s “Dubai Al Multaka,” considered the heartbeat of the television station, forecasts and covers the daily events in both the city of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in general.

“JumpTV has shown its dedication to providing the best in international broadcasting by partnering with the leading programmers from around the world. We already have among the best offerings from the Middle East, and by partnering with Dubai TV, Dubai Sports and Sama Dubai, JumpTV is further expanding our portfolio to provide those with an interest in the Middle East and Arab society the best programming via the Internet,” said Kaleil Isaza, chief executive officer and president of JumpTV International. “The Arab diaspora has proven to be a voracious consumer of media. This widely dispersed and rapidly growing community reads, watches, debates and participates in their media with a distinctly unique passion. By partnering with Dubai Media Incorporated, JumpTV is bringing some of the best Pan-Arab broadcasting content to a global audience.”

JumpTV’s global Internet-television network stream over 190 live, high-quality international television signals via its website from stations in more than 65 countries. Subscribers can access their favorite channels from any Internet-enabled device including home computers, laptops, Internet-enabled televisions, mobile phones and video game consoles.
