The launch was presided by Mr. Yousef Alshaya the CEO of KAICO. Present to celebrate the occasion were various dignitaries as well as KAICO customers and staff.
Following in the tracks of an impressive family lineage –the Guinness Book of World Records recognized the Mazda MX-5 as the best selling two-seat convertible sports car in history – the newest MX-5 is the essence of Jinba Ittai, or “rider and horse as one”, the force that drove the car’s designers. With driver and car unity in mind, the third generation Mazda MX-5 features an innovative body structure; fresh interior and exterior designs; improved steering, suspension, and braking systems; enhanced safety features, and a host of other features available for the first time in an MX-5.
The Mazda MX-5 embodies the concept of contemporary elegance, simplicity, athletic functionality and fun. A body structure not seen on the MX-5’s predecessors uses new materials and technologies to trim weight, improve crashworthiness, and increase rigidity. The roadster’s famous low flowing shoulder lines remain the same with a slight modification that conveys a sense of forward motion and speed. More pronounced fender arches and a clever adjustment to the aluminum wheels emphasize the MX-5’s athletic and sporty approach to the road.
Designed to enhance the occupants’ sense off freedom and joy in driving a sports car, the interior of the third-generation MX-5 provides more elbow and seat room. Well laid-out displays and controls, first time steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise-control switches, and improved external and internal storage promise a comfortable driving experience. And with three distinct levels of high quality interior trim and eight shades of paint available, including four new colors, the MX-5 can be customized to fit the owner’s unique sports car image.
Safety, security and environmental awareness are top priority with Mazda. The third-generation MX-5 features a host of high level of active and passive safety. The roadster’s outstanding steering and braking abilities enable drivers to help avoid collision. Dynamic stability and four-wheel anti-lock braking systems are available. The MX-5’s rigid unibody design uses the Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System, meeting and exceeding collision standards. A new side air bag system cushions occupants. A special Shock Cone inner hood panel greatly reduces the chance of pedestrian injury.
To minimize chances of theft, the MX-5 offers several anti-theft features ranging from a standard immobilizer system to an advanced keyless system. Conscious of today’s environmental issues, the MX-5’s designers incorporated the use of recyclable materials and succeeded in almost completely eliminating the use of environmentally hazardous substances when building the car.
The MX-5 delivers the ultimate in driving performance. Features such as perfect weight distribution and a low center of gravity, a nimble steering system, a newly developed 2.0-liter MZR engine and an innovative 6-speed manual transmission make driving the MX-5 an experience of pure joy and liberation.
“Jinba Ittai” and “Lots of Fun”, those are the standards the MX-5 drives for,” said Mr. Fumio Tone, General Manager of KAICO. “With the third generation MX-5 we bring to Kuwait a unique driving experience: driver and car united for an unforgettable and high performance-packed driving experience. The MX-5 honors the spirit of that original roadster born sixteen years ago out of Mazda ingenuity in engineering and design.”
