With over 300,000 visitors, the day featured a variety of events for all ages including a table tennis zone and games of beach volleyball and beach football in addition to an exclusive football match. Visitors made use of the 150 bicycles on display which were available free of charge enjoying a ride around the cultural village with the family.
Dr. Emad Sultan, Cultural Affairs Director commented on the occasion, “This occasion marks the first of many Sports Days to come, with a record number of visitors. The plans for next year are underway as we hope to attract an even larger number in an effort to see more families enjoy our events at Katara.”
The day saw the opening of art exhibitions Vintage Sports Photography Collection by Sultan Al Jassim and a collection by former Qatari footballer, Ibrahim Khalfan. Featuring 30 paintings, the collection depicted traditional and modern day Qatar. The exhibition is open to the public running until 25th February.
