Kenya Airways will operate the route twice a week every Tuesday and Saturday on an Embraer 90 with a 12/86 seating capacity across two cabins, one of which is the award winning business class that won the top award at the Africa Investor (Ai) Tourism Investor Awards as the Business Airline of the Year in Africa.
The commencement of the season continues to highlight Kenya Airways’ commitment to the Middle East through its ambitious growth plans to expand its network not only across Africa but also beyond the borders of the continent.
The commencement of these flights will give Kenyans and other regional and international travelers from all over the world, direct access from Nairobi to the oil-rich nation.
Abraham Joseph, Area Manager, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Indian Sub-continent and North Africa, Kenya Airways said: “Jeddah is an important trading partner for several African and European countries and as an airline it is an important destination for us because of its economic importance as well as being the gateway to the Holy City of Mecca.”
“Through the commencement of this flight we will also be able to serve pilgrims across Africa during the Hajj season.”
Joseph added that Kenya Airways will use the new route to serve travelers within Africa and from outside the continent desiring shorter connection time to rest of Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Far East through its hub at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.
The flight arrives into King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah from Nairobi every Tuesday and Saturday at 8.25 pm and departs back to Nairobi every Wednesday and Sunday at 1.45 am.
Kenya Airways also has a codeshare with Saudi Airlines which departs every Tuesday and Saturday to Nairobi at 12.05 am on an Airbus 320.
