The partnership between the two companies was first established in May 2005. As a result of the collaborative project – the erection of the European Business Center – a one-of-a-kind office complex was built in Dubai, which provides an intercultural trading platform for more than 150 corporations from all over Europe and the Arab region.
The multi-functional building, which is equipped with the latest solar technology and provides 25,000 m2 of floor space, will house 1,500 new jobs. Businesses are slated to move into the office suites in November of this year. The size of the office suites is flexible and ranges from 50 m2 to 6,000 m2.
There is also room for secretary and e-mail services, meeting and conference rooms. At the EBC, along with a comprehensive service portfolio, tenants will enjoy the benefits of European business and amenity standards, which will raise the bar for such structures in Dubai.
To warrant a fast and smooth rollout for tenant’s business activities, a highly qualified in-house service team will be at their disposal to give support for the duration of their lease agreements.
These consulting services comprise everything from administration during the enterprise founding phase, to the provision of “local sponsors”, to the application for residency and work permits on behalf of employees, to operational IT and accounting support.
The lessees will move into key-in-hand office suites already equipped with the essential technical infrastructure (AC, LAN, high-speed Internet access, digital phones, etc.).
This is revolutionary for Dubai, where offices are usually handed over in the so-called “shell & core” state.
For entrepreneurs, the latter usually means that before they can actually operate their businesses they have to complete a time-consuming obstacle course, which frequently takes more than 8 weeks and confronts companies with many bureaucratic stumbling blocks. In particular the EBC’s core target group – small and medium-sized European firms with 4 to 15 employees – frequently forfeited doing business here in the past because of this unproductive and costly lead time.
The European Business Center now enables these businesses to partake in the innumerable benefits Dubai offers as a business hub – in an efficient manner that is easy on the budget.
A committee of Arab and European business experts performs background checks on all potential tenants.
The objective of the pre-defined selection process is to ensure the EBC houses an optimum tenant mix. To this end, industry segment, country of origin and creditworthiness are equally important for the rating of applicants.
Embedded into the Dubai Investments Park, a strategically positioned residential and business zone covering 3,200 hectares of land, the European Business Center is located in the immediate proximity of Jebel Ali Port and future Dubai World Central International Airport. In other words, in an area that provides an ideal environment to start doing business in one of the world’s fastest growing economic regions.
