A 2007 to 2009 Dubai Statistics Center report stated that in the emirate alone, there were 19,684 flats completed with 84,106 under construction; and 1,907 completed villas & residential complexes, with 7,419 still under construction.
“In the UAE, where nine out of ten people are expatriates, many choose to rent or purchase affordable property in order to save money. This usually offers limited space compared to larger, and consequently more expensive, villas and luxury apartments. More often than not, bathroom space in smaller accommodation is sacrificed in favour of using available square meters for larger living and bedroom areas,”
said Mohamed Nada, Regional Marketing Manager at Kohler Co.
To combat this and create a more efficient use of space in standard 152.4cm by 81.28cm alcove installations, Kohler – the global leader in kitchen and bath design – has unveiled the space maximising Expanse bath, designed in keeping with the company’s philosophy to deliver customers with functionality without sacrificing design.
The affordable Expanse bath features a curved apron – an innovative design that bows out 18.75% further than the standard alcove width – providing an additional 15.24cm at the apex, thus increasing the space for the region’s homeowners to manoeuvre while bathing and showering. To perfectly complement this bath, Kohler also introduced the Expanse Curtain Rod – which tapers at the same dimensions.
“The Expanse bath is the perfect example of Kohler’s mission to contribute to a higher level of gracious living for those who are touched by our products and services,” added Nada. “The curved apron is a contemporary design aesthetic that truly adds functionality to an area where it is needed, maximizing alcove spaces, and helping our Middle East customers make the most of every centimetre they own in a beautiful and affordable way.”
Delivering a deep soaking experience and value for money, the Expanse bath has soft design lines and a wider-than-normal top and bottom bath well that forms a pillowed square, as well as a 43.18 cm-stepover threshold for easy entry and exit for people of all ages and statures.
Comprised of acrylic, the bath is available in three of the most common Kohler colours – White, Almond, and Biscuit – from Kohler’s Middle East supplier network.
