The United Arab Emirates are considered to be a major emerging market for Austrian tourism. This summer, several delegations from Arab countries visited the province of Carinthia. The visitors were very pleased and they especially liked Carinthia’s glorious landscape. These high-ranking Middle Eastern officials highly appreciated the abundance of water, the rich green pastures and Carinthia’s unique combination of mountains and lakes.
“Since our Arab guests were enthusiastic about the holiday destination Carinthia, we have decided to provide additional information about Carinthia in the United Arab Emirates. This will be our first advertising activity on a market that is very promising from a touristic point of view,” says Werner Bilgram, the managing director of the Carinthian Tourist Office. A wide range of information about Carinthia will therefore be available at and around Dubai’s Kartrace organized by MaxFun. The event will take place in Dubai from November 17 to 21, 2005.”
“We chose the Dubai Kartrace for our first presentation in the United Arab Emirates because this top-level event is one of the social highlights in the region, thus making sure many eyes will be on the province of Carinthia,” Mr. Bilgram explains.
Werner Bilgram, the managing director of the Carinthian Tourist Office, will introduce Carinthia as a highly attractive year-round holiday destination. This presentation will be attended by influential tourism managers and business managers. There will furthermore be numerous information sessions with tour operators who have already shown interest in including Carinthia into their programmes. In addition to this, Carinthia will have extensive brand-building activities along the entire kart route and on the pits and will also feature a special information booth in the finishing area. In order to discuss possible cooperations between Dubai and the holiday destination Carinthia, Mr. Bilgram, the highest-ranking tourism representative of Carinthia, will also visit the world’s largest indoor skiing facility, which is to open soon in Dubai.
Other activities will include meetings with representatives of soccer teams interested in organizing training camps in Carinthia.
“These promotional activities and the highly interesting meetings we will attend on the occasion of the Dubai Kartrace are a first step towards gaining a strong foothold on a very attractive emerging market. In order to further develop these projects, we are certainly planning to join forces with the Austrian National Tourist Office,” says Mr. Bilgram, who is confident about attracting guests from Arab countries to come visit beautiful Carinthia.
