Oasis Hospital achieves reaccreditation from joint Commission International

United Arab Emirates: Sunday, June 23 - 2013 @ 14:35

Joint Commission International is the global leader in accrediting health care organizations. Reaccreditation surveys are required every 3 years in order to maintain JCI Accreditation.

This was the third accreditation survey since 2007, when Oasis Hospital became the first private hospital in the Abu Dhabi emirate to achieve JCI Accreditation. Since then the hospital has been partnering with Joint Commission International to ensure quality and patient safety in all clinical and managerial functions of Oasis Hospital, as well as to embrace continuous performance improvement.

The mission of JCI is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care in the international community through the provision of education and advisory services and international accreditation and certification. The accreditation process itself provides standardized systems and practices that continue to improve the quality of patient care while also setting international standards for benchmarking.

Three surveyors from the Joint Commission International headquarters in the United States spent the last week of May at Oasis Hospital. The survey team left no stone unturned as they looked into every aspect of quality of care and issues of patient safety.

They spent many hours interviewing hospital staff and monitoring patient care systems. In their correspondence confirming reaccreditation, they wrote “The citizens of United Arab Emirates should be proud that Oasis Hospital is focusing on this most challenging goal – to continuously raise quality to higher levels… congratulations on this significant achievement”

Upon receiving the news, Oasis Hospital’s CEO Mr. Jeffrey Newman commented, “The mission of Oasis Hospital has always been to provide safe, quality care in an atmosphere of love and trust. The achievement of JCI reaccreditation demonstrates Oasis Hospital’s continued commitment to improvement in order to meet ever increasing expectations for quality and safety of care in the United Arab Emirates.”
