Over 40 officers and support staff were screened for eye healthissues at the Al Ain Sanayia Branch of the Abu Dhabi Police, which includes the Community Police Department. Dr. Timothy Fincher, an Opthalmology Specialist at Oasis Hospital, along with supporting staff, conducted several screening exams during their visit.
These included screening and evaluation of common eye problems such as dry eye syndrome, and areas of growth from sun damage; screening for Glaucoma, which is a disease that affects the optic nerve and diminishes peripheral vision, but is often unknown to the patient until advanced stages; screening for diabetic retinopathy which can result in decreased vision due to bleeding and swelling in the eye.
Lieutenant Rashid Ali Al Kaabi, second in command of the Sanayia Branch of the Abu Dhabi Police in Al Ain, was the first to have his eye examination. He said, “We are happy to welcome Oasis Hospital and their specialized medical team into our facilities for medical screenings for the officers and employees in our center. We thank them for their continual efforts with us in serving the nation and our people. We look forward to working together with Oasis Hospital in the future.”
The partnership between Oasis Hospital and the Abu Dhabi Police including the Community Police, is one of many ways in which the Oasis Hospital serves the local population. Brooks Glett, Vice President of Public and Community Affairs at OasisHospitalnotes that “We have been caring for the people in the Al Ain region for 50 years and we continue to tailor our care to the changing needs of the population. Hosting screenings at employer locations allows us to meet the community where they are most comfortable receiving care.”
