John Philips, UWIC’s Dean of International Affairs, said:
“The UWIC International Office has attended every Ghedex event and also visits Oman on a regular basis with an aim to maintain and develop a wide range of friendships.”
He said, “At the moment, UWIC has over seventy Omani students, who have excelled in subjects such as Tourism, Biomedical Science, Business Information Systems, Human Resources Management and Business Administration. The University has an Omani society which arranges support and social activities for Omani students. The University has regarded the Omani students as highly motivated, well-educated, well-prepared and popular with their tutors.”
“The UWIC International Office uses as always the Ghedex event to keep in touch with former students in addition to making new contacts and giving advice and information to new prospective students,” Philips said.
Having a close standing with the Sultan Qaboos University (including a memorandum of Understanding in Tourism), the Ministry of Health, The Armed Forces Medical Services and a number of other Government and commercial organisations in Oman, the UWIC provides education and training opportunities and is made up of five academic schools including the renowned Cardiff School of Arts & Design, The Cardiff School of Education – one of the leading providers of teacher training in the UK; The Cardiff School of Health Sciences – with the recently opened £4.9m research centre; The Cardiff School of Management – which offers the largest on campus MBA in the UK; and its famous Cardiff School of Sport.
Ghedex will be held from April 20 to 22 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre alongside major events such as Trainex, Jobex, Edutech and Schoolex.
