The implementation ran in parallel with the construction of the building and provided the hotel with advanced services such as high-speed Internet connectivity, wireless access and IP telephony. The IT network infrastructure also supports its hotel management systems (HMS), in-room facilities like Interactive TV systems and Internet service.
“The client was looking for a reliable partner who could supply and install a reliable network that could provide the necessary bandwidth for the above applications and an assurance that the current and future applications designed for this infrastructure would be supported for the lifetime of this infrastructure,” pointed out Jismoan Jacob, Territory Manager for Kuwait at Online.
“The Marina project is a prestigious landmark in Kuwait city and as a value added distributor of networking products & solutions, OnLine was committed to providing the best solution for the project. BMB is our preferred Ortronics partner and holds the status of ‘Certified Installer Plus’, the highest level of certification that an Ortronics installer can attain.”
BMB installed a total of seven-42U cabinets in different locations to house the active networking equipment. These are linked to a Central Main cabinet using a fibre optic backbone. The horizontal cabling spreads across 2400 data points and is based on the Ortronics Clarity6™ copper solution. The OM3 multimode fibre constituting the backbone offers bandwidth suitable for 10 GB/s applications. A total of 150,000 meters of copper horizontal distribution and 19200 fibre meters have been deployed in the system.
“The main challenge for us and Online Distribution was to complete an end to end structured cabling system on-site within tight time schedules while maintaining high quality installation and performance,” said Ausaf Usmani, Divisional Manager of BMB. “We were awarded the project after a series of presentations followed by inspections of installed reference sites by the Consulting engineers to evaluate the proposed product and the installation practices of the installers.”
“Ortronics is committed to the Middle East region and will continue to provide technically sound network designs for the so many projects that are coming up in the region,” said Tomaso Charlemont, Business Development Manager for Ortronics. “Our Clarity™ solution used in this project offers the customer the necessary bandwidth to cater to existing needs while giving it enough headroom to take on the forthcoming applications. Considering the exacting requirements specified by the consultants and Ortronics Clarity™ and the OptiMo™ Fibre solution were the perfect match.”
The implementation is certified by BMB and covered by Ortronics under its 25 years warranty program.
