United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 16 - 2008 @ 16:10

The Specialty Coffee plantation situated 75Km north of the Kathmandu in Nepal features Himalayan snow water washed shade grown, organic, sundried green beans. The final product is 100% hand sorted and cleaned.

Ujjal, Rana of the Plantec Coffee Estate explained, “The project is contributing to reforestation, soil conservation, and wildlife conservation especially in connection with providing shelter to both migratory and non-migratory birds and endangered animals. Additionally our project has had considerable impact on the livelihood of the local inhabitants of this backward region especially in regard to women employment and training. We are delighted to work with Orbis Coffee in this respect and know their commitment to our community.”

Justin Clarke, CEO of Orbis, said:

“The ethos of our company is that we support smaller farmers in lesser known coffee regions of the world. Working with Ujjal also gives a valuable additional choice to individual consumers and the hospitality industry here in the UAE. There is also the opportunity for an organisation in the Gulf to partner with us to provide new school facilities which are needed.”
