Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority has been the proud ambassador of Qatar’s traditional hospitality during the largest European travel trade show, International Tourism Bourse (ITB) held in Berlin from March 11th until March 15th.
QTEA’s delegates and partners have outlined the new worldwide tourism strategy to promote Qatar as a unique and world class destination. This was met with a great deal of interest from visitors to ITB, and companies flocked to the stand to investigate new commercial partnerships designed to bring more travelers to Qatar.
General public is granted access during the week-end to this very popular exhibition. Attracted by the Qatari hospitality, visitors were greeted on Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority’s stand with traditional joy and kindness. The future newcomers to Qatar could experience on the booth the cultural Qatari pride shared with warmth. Enjoying the traditional Qatari music, while sipping Arabic coffee and tasting dates, visitors were educated on the different activities they could enjoyed in Qatar, with brochures and maps distributed.
“We didn’t know that Qatar was a country with such a nice way of welcoming people, with such a lively heritage. I really want to know more about this country and this culture,” declared one visitor from Poland.
An official from the German government honored Qatar’s delegates by paying a visit to QTEA’s stand. He enjoyed some Arabic coffee, while seating on the Qatari traditional ground sitting , with his wife who was enjoying henna designs being made on her hands by QTEA’s henna lady.
Mrs Sasithara Pichaichannarong, permanent secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Sports from Thailand also halted at QTEA’s stand.
Mrs Soha Moussa, Head of Promotion and Organizing Exhibitions Abroad, commented, “It is the first time we participate in ITB Berlin with this new stand, with an area for people to enjoy the Traditional Qatar sitting area, and stop for Arabic coffee, or some henna. All visitors, professionnals and the general public, could immediately have a first experience of the Qatari hospitality and proud culture. This biggest European tourism exhibition is a very good opportunity for Qatar as it gathers people from all over the world. I am delighted that so many commercial opportunities presented themselves at International Tourism Bourse.”
Staged annually in Berlin, the International Tourism Bourse is a five day business to business event presenting a diverse range of destinations, products and services from 4,000 suppliers representing over 160 countries. The event is a unique opportunity for the travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business at one venue.
Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority will continue to promote Qatar in forthcoming travel and tourism events around the world. These include GIBTM in Abu Dhabi, the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, and IMEX in Frankfurt.
