Rakeen to showcase its Uptown Tbilisi project at MAPIC exhibition in France

United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, November 13 - 2007 @ 16:27

Rakeen, one of the Middle East’s most dynamic land master developers and property development companies, and the real estate development arm of the Ras Al Khaimah government, has announced that its Uptown Tbilisi mixed-used development in Tbilisi, Georgia, will headline its showcase at MAPIC, the international event for retail real estate, which will be held in Cannes, France, from November 14-16, 2007. With participation from 67 countries, including 1,900 retailers and over 900 exhibitors, MAPIC offers a unique perspective of the retail real estate sector.

Rakeen, based in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, is participating in this premier event for the first time, aiming to capitalise on the exhibition’s global appeal to enhance brand awareness and maximise sales of its retail outlets in all its international and local upcoming projects.

Commenting on Rakeen’s participation in the exhibition, Amy Gough, Marketing Manager, Rakeen, said, “The MAPIC exhibition is one of the most reputed real estate events internationally that specifically focuses on the retail sector, which makes it imperative for us to take part in this and showcase our high quality projects that appeal to retailers. The event will also serve as an ideal platform for us to further our brand image and also attract global investments to the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.”

“Our main highlight at MAPIC will be the Uptown Tbilisi development in Georgia, which comprises a luxurious shopping mall, four ultra-modern residential towers, two 36-storied office towers and a 2,500 square meter RAK Ceramics showroom. In addition, we will be showcasing the Tbilisi Heights residential and business complex, the RAK Convention Center in Ras Al Khaimah, and the mixed use complex in Isfahan, Iran,” added Gough.

The first phase of the Uptown Tbilisi project, which is in its initial stages of construction, is expected to be complete by December 2008. The project is one of three mixed-use projects in Georgia that Rakeen is involved in, at a total cost of more than AED 5.5 billion.

Naji Nassar, Uptown Tbilisi’s Project Manager said, “We are eager to showcase this prestigious development at the MAPIC exhibition in France, and we are certain that this project will generate substantial interest among the thousands of visitors and investors attending the event from around the world. Potential investors in Uptown Tbilisi visiting our stand 14.01 at MAPIC will find that Rakeen has given utmost priority to offering the very best in terms of quality of construction, layout, amenities and infrastructure, and we expect to finalise several deals during the three-day event.”

Rakeen’s stand 14.01 at the MAPIC exhibition will feature models of its various projects, especially Uptown Tbilisi, and will enable visitors to fully understand the scale and distinctiveness of Rakeen’s development ventures.

Rakeen is set to develop and manage several key projects in Ras Al Khaimah and overseas, including the Al Marjan Island, RAK Financial City, Gateway City, Al Hamra Amenity Centre, Jabal Al Jais and Banyan Tree Resort in Ras Al Khaimah. Many major Rakeen projects are also coming up in Africa, Iran, India, and Georgia.
