The meeting assembled members of the SKAL Club Jordan as well, a sister establishment of the Helmsmen Association, and a number of representatives from the Ministry of Tourism.
On the sidelines of the annual meeting, General Manager of Regency Palace Hotel Said Sawalha has been elected, and for the third time running, president of the association for the year 2009, and Ibrahim Naouri president of SKAL.
On the occasion of the election, Mr. Sawalha commented,
“It is a pride to be a member and president of an association whose aim is to render an additional value to the tourism industry, and even honor veterans in the field for their elevating contributions to hotel and hospitality services.”
Established in 1986, the International Association of Golden Helmsmen of Tourism is an internationally-accredited organization that grants the Golden Helmsmen award to distinguished hoteliers and tourism experts. Its branch in Jordan has been founded a decade later, in 1996 by Faa’q Basharat. Osama Dabbas, Muhammad Al-Imam, Samer Sawalha, Alaa’ Mohammed, and Galeb Sawalha are among the association’s registered members.
