“Manama’s selection to host the meeting is symbolic and reflects the fact that it was the only regional market to record year-on-year growth in both occupancy and average room rate last October, following post September 11 gloom,” said Thorsten Kirschke, Regional Director, Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts.
“Amidst a climate of uncertainty in the global travel industry, continuous investment in infrastructure is needed and confidence-boosting initiatives, such as Bahrain’s recent announcement on a US$200 million development plan, to ensure the island’s inbound tourism sector will remain buoyant,” said Kirschke.
Twelve Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts directors from the UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Turkey and Egypt will attend the meeting, during which the chain’s regional key objectives will be outlined.
“The MENA hospitality industry is facing a huge challenge following the recent international developments, which set the agenda and require a dynamic response,” said Heimo Leitgeb, General Manager, The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Bahrain, which will host the two-day event on January 23 and 24.
