The Public Transport Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently launched a One-Day Ticket initiative for the Water Bus Service at the Dubai Marina. This initial stage aims at attracting tourists, visitors and residents to know more about the Dubai Emirate through taking water bus rides via four stations within the Dubai Marina.
Hussain Khansaheb, Director of Marine Transport, Public Transport Agency, said: “This initiative aims at enhancing the tourist movement in the Dubai Marina through what we called a One-Day Ticket, while maintaining the single trip ticket in use, within the Dubai Marina areas. This card will be valid for a whole day enabling multiple Hop On and Hop Off rides, and covering four stations, thus offering an ideal tourist & entertainment element through this service at the Dubai Marina; which is a popular tourist & entertainment destination for residents, visitors and tourists of the UAE.”
“The one-day ticket for the Water Bus ride within the Dubai Marina will sell for 25 dirham enabling users to hop-on and hop-off repeatedly between the two sides of the Marina. To make this ticket more appealing to tourists and residents, riders are offered 28 discount vouchers from tour operators, restaurants and retail outlets preferred by tourists & residents spreading along the Marina. In particular, vouchers are offered from Alfa Travel on safari or tours in Dubai, Aqua Venture, The Lost Chambers at Atlantis Hotel, The Palm, Wild Wadi, Meydan Hotel, Sofitel Hotel and Rixos The Palm Hotel, Moxit, a trip by C-Wings Plane, Crotty offering discount on meals at Burger King and Krispy Kreme among others. These discounts are offered to anyone who buys the one-day ticket for the water bus service in the Dubai Marina,” said the Director of RTA Maine Transport.
“This initiative aims at raising the awareness of residents and tourists of the marine transport services in particular and the public transport services in general. It also seeks to educate the public about the entertainment destinations served by marine transit services, increase ridership, generate additional operational revenues, improve occupancy rates, and raise customers satisfaction. This initiative also serves the strategic goals of the RTA i.e. Dubai for Residents, customers first, encouraging public transport, financial sustainability, and boosting RTA’s development & excellence (7th strategy),” added Khansaheb.
It is note-worthy that the Public Transport Agency has been running the Water Bus service in the Dubai Marina since January 2013 starting with two stations, and in November that year it added two more stations to bring the number of the Water Bus stations in the Dubai Marina to four stations to serve tourists and residents wishing to entertain themselves in a fine travel between the two sides of the Marina. The ordinary fare in the Dubai Marina ranges from 3 to 5 dirham.
