The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has bagged the Network World Middle East Award 2014 in the Storage Project of the Year 2014 category. The Award was presented in a ceremony recently held by CPI Media Group at Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai in the presence of business leaders and top executives of government, semi-government entities as well as private businesses from the UAE and other countries of the region.

Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of Information Technology, RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, expressed his extreme pleasure for the Department to scoop this coveted award, considering it a culmination of RTA’s copious efforts towards broadening and advancing the public transport sector and the IT infrastructure; which, he says, plays a crucial role in promoting the services provided in this sector to all spectrums of the community.

“The RTA has emerged as a winner in this category, thanks to the implementation of the best technical practices towards the continuity of providing data storage system services as a contingency for any sort of disasters or crises, where the continuity of the storage services has touched as high as 99.7%,” noted Al Bastaki.

“The RTA is always keen on using state-of-the-art information technology to streamline the processes and e-transactions in a bid to play a pioneering role and become an international trend setter in this line of industry; which has become one of the core ingredients and contributors to the advancement & development drive, and ultimately nurturing a decent living for citizens, residents, tourists and visitors.

“The leading organizations today face multiple challenges as to how to adapt to this ever-changing world where technological advancements are in top gear; which warrants taking appropriate measures in a timely manner, particularly in an urban environment like Dubai; a city that has become a melting pot for multi-nationalities descending from all over the globe and bustling with year-round activities. Such activities are gathering pace & tempo to keep abreast of the diverse cast of events in the city representing a whole host of economic, business, service and financial sectors among others,” said Al Bastaki in a concluding remark.
