The Strategic Planning Supreme Committee at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), chaired by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, has endorsed the revised RTA Strategic Plan 2014 -2018 where the strategic goals have been updated to bring them in line with the strategic direction of the Dubai Government.
“Revising the strategic goals of the RTA is consistent with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council; and HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, to transform into a Smart City in a way that thrusts Dubai to become the Smartest City in the world where human beings become the core objective of development. Such a drive can be achieved through providing services and performing at rates that surpass expectations of the targeted communities in order to bring more happiness to the people. In this regard the revised Strategic Plan of the RTA has been aligned with the deliverables of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2010,” said Al Tayer.
“The Strategic Goals have been split into three core drivers. The First Driver is the Community, which encompasses three goals. The first is Smart Dubai; which is aimed at boosting communication, integration, cooperation, information management, transforming into smart government and developing smart solutions for mobility and traffic. The second goal is Dubai Integration through which the RTA is seeking to improve the integration between transportation planning and urban planning, making roads & transit systems more friendly to all, developing policies as well as the legislative framework of roads and transport systems, and maintaining the national identity. The third goal is bringing happiness to people, and through this goal the RTA aims to be the leader in delivering service besides communicating and cooperating with all community members.
“The Second Driver is Transport Systems and comprises two strategic goals. The first is Smooth Transport for All; which can be achieved through encouraging public transport, providing effective and proper roads & transport networks, managing the requirements of transportation & traffic congestion, and developing effective transport and traffic policies & legislations. The second goal is Safety and Environmental Sustainability; which includes improving transport and traffic safety to curb accidents & mortalities, achieving transport environmental sustainability, and enhancing the sustainability of occupational health and safety.
“The Third Driver is the Internal Efficiency; which comprises three strategic goals. The first is the Financial Sustainability where the RTA is seeking to augment its revenues, boost the partnership with the private sector, ensure the efficient use of financial resources, and improve the efficiency of the operational costs. The second goal is RTA Excellence where the RTA seeks to develop and improve human resources, improve the organizational efficiency, uplift operations & systems, diffuse the culture of quality, excellence sad creativity, and cement relationships with partners and suppliers. The third goal is Asset Sustainability through improving the efficiency and effectiveness of asset management, optimizing asset performance, and maximizing the value of assets.
