As part of the 9th annual breast cancer awareness campaign, the nurse’s workshop provided the principles in the management of breast cancer patients and the contribution they play in cancer care. The seminar shared the latest advances and understandings of breast cancer treatments even tackling the pregnant patients category.
“Research has shown that women who are offered a choice of treatment and who have access to a breast cancer nurse have a better psychological outcome,” said Dr. Fadi Farhat, Cancer Research Group President “As such nurses’ involvement in educational programs that focus on breast cancer is a must to ensure that all women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have adequate access to the support that nurses are able to provide.”
A breast cancer diagnosis can be the beginning of a very traumatic, anxiety provoking experience in a woman’s life. Many women feel quite isolated as they embark on their breast cancer journey because they do not wish to burden friends or family with their private fears or concerns. Obtaining up-to-date information and support from a nurse who is well educated in the area of breast cancer treatment and management is a powerful way a woman can gain control over the way she makes informed decisions.
