Rotana raises Dhs175,000 through its ‘Together we can do more’ initiative

United Arab Emirates: Sunday, August 04 - 2013 @ 14:17

As part of this initiative, Rotana added to their guests’ room bills an amount of Dhs5 and also matched every donation with another Dhs5 for every booking across all its 15 hotels in Dubai.

Commenting on this initiative, Thomas Tapken, Area Vice President of Rotana – Dubai & Northern Emirates said, “We strongly believe in supporting organizations that are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through education. From this initiative with Dubai Cares, we hope we will make a difference in the lives of children in the developing world. Dubai Cares is conducting admirable work and we thank them for inspiring us to contribute towards their efforts. Rotana and its employees firmly believe in giving back to society and supporting such charity initiatives on an on-going basis.”

“At Rotana, we strongly believe in the power of partnerships and collaborative efforts. We work closely with multi-national, national companies and small- to medium-sized charity associations to identify, design and implement alliances that leverage the strengths of the corporate sector,” Tapken added.

“Our aim is to strengthen our commitment towards a positive contribution to the communities and environment, and provide support to achieve our CSR objectives, as part of “Rotana Earth” program. As we continue with our expansion plans, we need to be mindful of the impact we make on our communities’ lives. With growth also comes responsibility – a responsibility to our guests, colleagues, stakeholders and the various communities that we operate and live in,” Tapken concluded.

Commending the efforts of Rotana, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said, “Education is a critical factor in every child’s development, yet millions of children around the world, particularly in developing countries, do not have access to quality primary education. The UAE’s multicultural community has helped us reach 8 million children in 31 developing countries in just 6 years. However, there is more that should be done. The tangible results of providing children with an education are numerous, most of which lie in the potential of transforming future generations. With the support of organizations such as Rotana, we are continuously committed to deliver integrated evidence-based primary education programs that create long-lasting impact in the lives of underprivileged children globally.”

Dubai Cares was launched in September 2007 by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to improve children’s access to quality primary education in developing countries.
