Villa Rotana, Rihab Rotana and Rimal Rotana participated in the ‘Walk for Education’ Walkathon 2014 a fun-filled event bringing together the UAE community in support of child education in developing countries.
The 3 kilometres symbolically represents the average distance millions of children around the world have to walk to go to school on a daily basis. The Walk aims to raise awareness of issues that prevent children in developing countries from gaining access to quality primary education and highlights the importance of primary education in breaking the cycle of poverty.
“We are proud that our colleagues participated in this hugely worthwhile cause, which provides a real opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children in need around the world,” commented Kinan Al Ghraoui, General Manager Villa Rotana, Rihab Rotana and Rimal Rotana.
Following the overwhelming response from various members of the UAE community including schools, universities, social clubs, companies and governments entities, over 5,500 UAE residents from different age groups including children participated in last year’s 2013 walkathon.
The Walk started at 9am followed by post-walk celebrations at Jumeirah Beach Park which included entertainment activities for all participants.
