“With the great effort of the team in both hotels of bringing the awareness of the campaign and spreading the word to all our in house customers and with the contribution of our valued guests & patrons for as little as per night of stay, we were able to raise to be donated to Operation Smile UAE and will be used to operate on 120 children, change their lives and add their missing smile,” said Patrick Martinez, General Manager of Yas Island Rotana & Centro Yas Island Abu Dhabi.
Around the world, 200,000 children are born each year with a facial deformity that causes inability to eat, speak, socialise or smile. Since 1982, Operation Smile—through the help of dedicated volunteers and faithful supporters—has provided more than 2 million patient evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries in over 60 countries.
HH Sheikha Alyazia Bint Saif Al Nahyan, wife of HH Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, commented on the success of the initiative saying: “We are truly grateful to the management and staff of Yas Island Rotana and Centro for organising the awareness campaign and to all the guests and patrons for participating in helping raise the much needed funds which will not only impact on the lives of 120 children but also on their families and communities. When everyone helps a little, we can achieve such a lot. Through initiatives such as this, with everyone working together, we are able to relieve the suffering of children with facial deformities and restore hope. We at Operation Smile UAE believe that Every Child Deserves a Smile, we know that Yas Island Rotana and Centro Yas Island and their guests and patrons do too.”
Martinez concluded, “We were honoured to be partnering with Operation Smile UAE and to take part of such a humanitarian cause that will change the life of hundreds of children, I am pleased with the success of this campaign and would like to thank our team members for their efforts and our guests for making the generous donations and supporting our cause.”
