The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announces that the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, program and portfolio management profession, has named it as a Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) effective July 1st 2014.
R.E.P.s are organizations that have been approved by PMI to help project managers achieve and maintain the Project Management Professional certifications. These organizations have met PMI’s rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification, and instructional design.
Ms. Laila Mohammed Faridoon, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Board & Executive Director of the RTA, Director of Corporate Projects Management Team Office, and Representative of the RTA in the PMI Global Executive Council, said: “The RTA has a lot to offer to the project management industry after reaching a high level of maturity in this field. Selecting the RTA as an approved training provider came in the aftermath of achieving PMI’s standards as regards addressing high quality requisites of training materials, qualifications of instructors, and the design of projects management modules; which means that the RTA project manager trainees have the potential to obtain professional certificates accredited by the PMI, as the PMI grants several important professional certificates.”
“The RTA will reap a host of benefits as a result of being selected as an accredited training provider examples of which include: publishing the training courses held by the RTA in the PMI’s portal, offering a chance for sharing knowledge and cooperation with the relevant institutions worldwide, and the early review of the international standards approved by the PMI before being released to the concerned bodies, specialists and the public in general, besides keeping abreast of new developments in the services and products of the PMI in the field of project management,” she added.
“Last year the RTA obtained the membership of the PMI Global Executive Council; which has over 75 members representing giant companies and international organizations such as NASA, Boeing, Microsoft, General Electric, Citibank, and IBM. This confirms that the selection of the RTA as a Registered Education Provider came in the context of appreciation for its expertise and practice of recognized best international practices in the field of project management. RTA views this as a new challenge to put more effort in order to measure up to the standing of the Emirate of Dubai as a modern & distinctive metropolis,” said Faridoon in a final remark.
RTA joins more than 1,500 R.E.P.s in more than 80 countries. These organizations include commercial training providers, academic institutions, and corporate training departments within corporations and government agencies.
