HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), was delighted with the giant strides made by the RTA in utilizing the latest technology to develop its business processes and services on offer to customers.
“The optimal utilization of technology is a step forward towards developing the Smart City infrastructure which we seek to epitomize under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, besides being a rich source of corporate development.”
A statement to this effect was made by Al Tayer upon accepting three awards won by the Information Technology Department, RTA. Abdullah Madani, CEO of Technical Support Services Sector; and Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of the Department of Information Technology presented the two awards which were received from two different entities in recognition of the best corporate information storage practices.
The RTA received a third award for the Best Information Security Applications Program in the special ceremony at the Gulf Information Security Exhibition & Conference, which was held in the Dubai World Trade Centre.
“The RTA has won a plethora of important awards in the technical field, thanks to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, starting with the transformation from the e-government to the smart government towards marking Dubai as the smartest city worldwide within three years. The RTA has claimed the Electronically Distinguished Entity Award as part of seven awards won by the civic body in the last edition of the Dubai Government Excellence Program. The RTA has also won the Best Smartphone Service Award as part of five awards won by the RTA in the first edition of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart Government Program. The RTA has also been privileged by hoisting the flag of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart Government Award at its headquarters for a full year. These awards reflect the efficiency of our teams as the RTA is committed to continue this excellent technological approach which serves the public & brings happiness to them through providing them with world-class services, and leverages the business processes in a way that ensures realizing our strategic objectives by effectively contributing to shaping the future of Dubai, and maintaining its internationally-acclaimed standing among the civilized cities in the world,” continued Al Tayer.
Abdullah Al Madani said: “We are pursuing an advanced technological system that renders the RTA a focal point of award organizing bodies, be it at the local, GCC or Middle Eastern levels. The whole world is now viewing information as cybernetic capital that can, if properly utilized, significantly boost the economic, human and governmental performance. In this sense, the RTA is keen on adopting world-class technological standards in maintaining and securing its information from any electronic risks, considering that the RTA is one of the largest government institutions.”
Abdullah Al Bastaki said: “Winning two awards for the best corporate storage application project from two different entities, namely: ITP and CBI Printing and Publishing Houses stands out as a testament to our excellence in this project and our ability to ensure the smooth flow of information by partitioning and managing information at the RTA level, with the possibility of increasing the information storage capacity without impacting operations. Moreover, we have received the Best Information Security Applications Program Award which we obtained at the Gulf Conference &Exhibition, which witnessed a wide regional and local participation, where attendees discussed the global cyber security bugs threatening the technological systems and personal networks. Winning this award in this Conference underlies a host of factors including our efforts in spreading awareness & culture about the concept of and information security at the RTA level, in addition to our continuous implementation of information security measurement tests at the RTA, and following up the implementation of the improved action plans in this area.”
