RTA visits the Home for the Aged and Rashid Center for Special Needs

United Arab Emirates: Thursday, November 27 - 2008 @ 13:49

The visit also signals a gesture of gratitude and appreciation on the part of the RTA to the role and achievements of ancestors in laying out the foundation of today’s development drive.

Najib Al-Zarooni, Director of Parking Dep’t at RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, who visit the center with number of department staff said: “The visit stems out of RTA’s corporate & social responsibility particularly towards the elderly residing at old aged homes. It is a gesture of thankfulness on behalf of the RTA to these peoples who played an active role at the social & national levels.

“In the context of RTA’s strategy to enhance the involvement with the community, the Parking Dep’t has made several social visits, organised activities and events, particularly during the last Ramadan. Visits, which covered Homes for the Aged and Rashid Center for Special Needs, aimed to identify the needs of these categories and RTA’s contribution to bridging the gap between these categories and the rest of the community. Our intention is to assist and empower all those to overcome disabilities by aiding them with a decent living such that they will be merged in the community as members capable of performing and giving, in coordination with other relevant organizations and bodies.

“Such events are extremely important and RTA highly regards such endeavors. It encourages its employees to volunteer in social services and events. It is thus not surprising that the RTA addresses the requirements of people with special needs in all of its projects so as to ease their mobility through various means including the provision of dedicated parking slots free of charge” added Najeeb Al-Zarooni.

The RTA has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Social Affairs to exempt the disabled from the Toll Gate fees (Salik), including subscription and usage charges.
