Badr Al Attar, Manager of Dubai Brach, Emirates Transport, presented a work paper in the 7th session entitled: Marketing & Awareness, reviewing the concept of security & safety of school transport in terms of improving internal policies, technical resources, and operational procedures. It also touched on enhancing the awareness and training of all concerned individuals about the risks associated with the service.
He explained that Emirates Transport adopted several initiatives to raise the awareness about school buses, safety & the traffic education awards as well as the golden rule.
“Emirates Transport’s safety & traffic education award aims at emphasizing the principle of safety nurturing traffic education, and fostering traffic awareness amongst students, parents and educational institutions. It also seeks to boost the positive links with various entities concerned with school transport (such as traffic departments, transport authorities, municipalities, health, public works, and parents council) in order to raise the traffic educations of students. The award also intends to enhance the role of families considering them key partners in the traffic education, and raise the constructive competitiveness between school managements in developing innovative projects and awareness techniques.
“The Emirates Transport’s safety & traffic education award targets schools, students, and parents through 4 key categories comprising accurate standards including: Distinguished Schools Award, and the Distinguished Projects Award assessing and showcasing the ability of the school in leveraging the objectives of the project, emergence of the idea, and following up implementation till project completion,” he continued.
As regards the distinguished projects awards, it included the presentation of the best artistic drawing, best graphic design, best short story, best presentation program, and eloquence. The ideal family award reflects the family’s attention to the safety of its children transported on buses through supervising the process by waiting to escort their wards from the bus to home and vice versa.
“Since the inauguration of the Safety and Traffic Education Award in the academic year 2005/2006, about 105 schools took part and the number kept growing till reaching 908 schools in the academic year 2010/2011,” said Badr Al Attar in a final remark.
