Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO RTA licensing agency, Head of RTA Scientific Research Award Team, praised these scientific gatherings & seminars which offer educative programs capable of advancing the objectives of the Award and enriching the knowledge of individuals. They also familiarize researchers with various aspects as well as proper processes & principles of conducting scientific researches in line with the international standards.
The Workshop was introduced by Prof. Mustafa Hassan, Dean of e-School of Health & Environmental Studies at Hamdan bin Mohammed e-University, who touched on a number of key topics relating to the concept, features, types, and main steps of compiling the scientific research.
“No doubt the scientific research is characterized by certain features starting with the existence of a particular issue or question, planning the research methodology, and collecting diverse data & information captured in response to the question of the research. Scientific researches comprise “abstracts” for the sake of acquiring the knowledge, and “applied” ones for the sake of figuring out solutions to address existing problems.
“The researcher has to peruse previous researches & studies for a host of objectives including: avoiding errors, saving time in identifying new skills to avoid repeated studying of topics that have already been exhausted, and conducting a comparative study for the research topic with other researches made in the same field,” added Prof. Hassan.
In a related context, Hassan noted that the types of modules used in scientific researches, include the experimental method, which is specialized in studying the phenomenon, and conducting analytical & historical description for tracking the phenomenon; and the integrated approach adopted in applied researches for studying & applications. He highlighted the characteristics and objectives of each module, explained the data capturing methods built on measurement, self-generated reports, and observations. He also reviewed the types of questionnaires along with their features; types of open & restricted questionnaires, and key procedures to be taken into account at the time of compiling them.
He also explained the sound basis of analyzing and presenting data, by incorporating the compiled data in spreadsheet and graphic formats and then performing a simple statistical analysis so as to conclude to the final shape of the research.
It may be noted that the RTA’s Scientific Research Award is only limited to RTA’s employees, where individuals and teams of no more than 3 members can make submissions to the Award. The submitted research should also be serious & genuine, address developmental concepts and offer viable practical solution to realistic problems encountered. The Award covers other fields such as human resources, management, roads & transportation, infrastructure, engineering, environment, and project management.
