WAFIafi Rewards offers discounts and dining rewards at over 250 outlets in the Mall and Pyramids including pampering at the Cleopatra’s Spa and membership at Pharaohs Club.
The new programme is a key element in a wider major, multi-phase, multi-million dirham re-development programme across the mall which aims to attract more tenants and more visitors.
The creation of a wide variety of new food and beverage outlets, along with family entertainment areas, to cater to the emirate’s multi-cultural society are also set to be completed in the near future.
“The loyalty programme has been integral to the shopping experience at WAFI over the years,” explained Moira Billington, Head of Marketing. “And has proven its worth in attracting and retaining customers over the long term. Now we are keen to make life even more rewarding for our loyal customers through the new scheme which affords a wider range of benefits. By shopping or dining at any outlet in WAFI Mall, Khan Mujan Souk or Pyramids, customers will earn points for any spend,” she added.
These Points can be redeemed at many of WAFI’s wide selection of cafes and restaurants including Cleopatra’s Spa and the exciting new Café Court. The scheme also offers attractive discounts in over 100 stores 20% discount in many Pyramids Restaurants, Cleopatra’s Spa and Hair @ Pyramids as well as 10% discount off Pharaohs Club membership.
The Points are accumulated through new advanced technology by swiping the Rewards Card or by simply using a smart phone.
“WAFI Mall is the Middle East launch customer for a new patent-pending technology which results in members of WAFI Rewards Programme no longer being required to carry a traditional plastic loyalty card, which is prone to be forgotten or misplaced. Instead points will be collected and redeemed for rewards with a simple wave of a mobile phone towards a contact-less tablet,” she said. “They will then receive an SMS confirming the transaction,” she added.
The technology has been developed by ViaFone Technologies. Founder and CEO Souffiane Houti, says that as the number of mobile devices equipped with NFC technology continues to rise rapidly across the UAE, forward thinking organisations such as WAFI, have embraced this innovative technique to entice, engage and offer a more personalised, positive and more convenient loyalty experience in today’s high-paced society.
While the plastic card will still be available to WAFI Rewards members, the ViaFone technology will increasingly bring the loyalty programme online in a more expedited and efficient manner.
“Using both NFC enabled and non-NFC smart phones, members will be able to share information with friends via social media outlets, receive instant notifications of special offers , collect individualised discounts, all in addition, of course, to acquiring loyalty reward points and offers,” he said.
Houti added, “As customers use their mobile phones to interact with the loyalty programme, their profiles are constantly developed.” “We believe the technology delivers a win-win situation for both merchants and consumers. It is a highly efficient and secure way for merchants to extend their existing point of sale, building profiles of their customers and getting them to dig deeper into their behaviour and shopping habits. It is also more environmentally friendly eliminating – over time – the need for plastic cards, as each Point of Sale location requires only one NFC tag produced by our partner Identive-Group. Moreover, for consumers, it makes shopping much more enjoyable and less of a hassle.”
“In enhancing the loyalty programme and adopting ViaFone technology for WAFI Rewards; we are once again playing a revolutionary role in the UAE consumer’s shopping experience,” said Billington. “In a nutshell, the more people shop, the more points they receive resulting in the more opportunities to eat or pamper themselves for free – all with the wave of a smart phone,” Billington added.
