In partnership with Reach out to Asia, all revenues spent at the company’s Al Rifai, Awtar, American Grill, NY Deli, Mongolian Barbeque, Sbarro and Pita Fresh restaurants will be donated to provide food and medical supplies for the 1,400,000 men, women and children affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Wataniya Chief Executive Nasser Beydoun, said:
“Like many people, I have been deeply moved by the scenes of devastation we are witnessing in Gaza. As a food business, Wataniya feels strongly the human suffering caused by starvation. I urge everyone to visit a Wataniya restaurant on Sunday 18th of January, enjoy fresh, tasty food – and help save lives!”
The bombing and ground invasion has caused severe damage to the civilian infrastructure in Gaza with many areas left without water or electricity.
In particular the number of casualties has completely overwhelmed the already severely limited health services in Gaza. All Gaza hospitals are reporting being out of critical supplies and the basic supplies they do have are running out fast.
“The people of Qatar have already shown great compassion for those affected by this crisis and have responded with tremendous generosity. In any emergency, children are the first to suffer. In Gaza, half the population are children, and today they’re without adequate food, electricity, water, healthcare or education,” added Beydoun.
Wataniya Restaurants and Reach Out To Asia are responding with emergency packages for children and families affected by the bombing. Every riyal donated will provide food to feed malnourished children, blankets to keep families warm through bitter winter nights and medical supplies to treat the thousands of injured and wounded Palestinian citizens.
Restaurants taking part in the Wataniya Gaza fundraising event include all branches of Al Rifai, Awtar, American Grill, NY Deli, Mongolian Barbeque, Sbarro and Pita Fresh.
