Through this campaign, WRDC aims to educate the workforce on safe working guidelines to avoid any heat related illnesses.
These guidelines put emphasis on the importance of sufficient fluids intake, taking short breaks and the compliance with appropriate work arrangements.
Part of the campaign includes carrying out a briefing session in Gayathi in Al Gharbia region dedicated to the labor force which is set to take place at both the labor sites and camps.
In addition, brochures highlighting the safety guidelines for working outdoors in hot weather conditions will be distributed to the labor force.
Hassan Salem Al Karbi, Chairman of the Social Committee at WRDC, “The safety of the labor force is of great importance to us and forms an essential part of the Council’s sustainability initiative in Al Gharbia.”
Al Karbi added, “We are confident that by carrying out this awareness campaign targeting approximately 500 members of the labor community we will be able to create greater awareness about precautions to be taken while working outdoors during the summer period. This will eventually result in the reduction of incidents of heat related illnesses among members of the labor community.”
Al Karbi concluded, “We would like to extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Labor who has been exceptional in providing us with the necessary information and resources required to carry out this awareness campaign.”
