World E-Business: New steps towards meeting ICT challenges in West Africa

IT experts of different levels are expected to attend the summit including IT leaders, entrepreneurs, government officials as well as IT researchers from around the globe, to discuss and share their knowledge and papers on the summit’s theme, which is “Driving business through innovation”.

Knowing that one of the core topics of the summit is recommending solutions for today’s challenges facing the IT industry in west Africa that are constraining the development of the sector, the summit also currently welcomes paper submissions on these topics.

On this occasion, Mohamed Hawass, WEBI founder and CEO, commented, “WEBI is proud to partner with Kinetic Events at the upcoming IT Leaders West Africa Summit. The strategic partnership aims to focus on addressing enterprise IT challenges facing the West African IT industry in efforts to empower Internet entrepreneurs in developing countries, creating and enabling access to an open network of opportunities to promote e-entrepreneurship and Internet economy.”

He also described the relationship between the two organisations as strategically important and as the beginning of a long term partnership with Kinetic Events. Mr. Kwabena Obiri the Head of WEBI Ghana will deliver a presentation on the role of multinational corporations in the development of an information technology industry in West Africa.

WEBI is a social start up launched in 2011 from Cairo, Egypt. It is managed by a group of young entrepreneurs from Brazil, Columbia, Germany and Ghana with experience in technology, e-business, and innovation, and a passion to combine efforts, spread awareness about e-entrepreneurship and e-business. Throughout the second quarter of 2012 WEBI launched two conferences at Leipzig University about the future of Internet Economy in developing countries. Currently WEBI is building a new project which aims at empowering human capital of early stage internet start-ups in developing countries.

WEBI is pleased to take part in the IT Leaders summit as a new step for the initiative expansion overseas and encourages all CIOs, IT heads and executives to participate in this global industry initiative.
