Xylem has designed the WEDECO Duron solution as the ideal fit for all medium to large size wastewater treatment plants that are looking for an environmentally friendly disinfection option that is easy to install, operate and maintain.
Designed for mid-size to large, open channel systems, Xylem’s WEDECO Duron eliminates the need for chemical based disinfection while simultaneously reducing electricity costs and the amount of space required to house the product.
WEDECO ECORAY UV lamps with a power of 600 W are arranged in a 45° vertical inclined geometry.
“This innovative approach gives several benefits to our customers,” explained Kirsten Meyer, UV Product Manager with Xylem. “Firstly, the design optimizes the hydraulics and performance efficiency. Secondly, thanks to enhanced ballast technology, fewer lamps are needed, which leads to a compact product size. Thirdly a proven intelligent dose control minimizes the energy consumption throughout all operating conditions,” she added.
Disinfection with ultraviolet (UV) light is a reliable, well-established technology to inactivate pathogens including bacteria, viruses and parasites. A validation approach that exceeds conventional wastewater standards even allows to design and control the system specifically to the pathogen of concern.
Xylem’s new water filtration technology that replaces support gravel in the wastewater market and porous plates in the drinking water sector will be launched to customers in the Middle East at the International Water Summit.
Xylem’s new Leopold I.M.S 1000 media retainer allows wastewater treatment plants to consistently deliver higher quality effluent than is possible with support gravel due to increased media depth and available driving head. The new Leopold I.M.S 200 media retainer delivers the same benefits to water treatment facilities.
Xylem will also showcase its Sanitaire ICEAS solution at the International Water Summit. As a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), Xylem’s Sanitaire ICEAS enables all of the wastewater treatment to be done in a single tank, making it quicker, easier and less expensive to build multiple tanks.
The continuous flow of effluent results in a very stable operation with exceptional performance. Variations in flows and loads are split evenly between all tanks ensuring optimal performance at all times and providing the right conditions for nutrient removal.

Xylem’s Leopold Clari-DAF system is a high-rate dissolved air flotation clarification solution that is particularly effective for desalination pre-treatment of seawater. Source water contaminants such as membrane-fouling algae (also known as red tide) and free or emulsified oil that are naturally buoyant are best removed by flotation.
Xylem’s Leopold Clari-DAF (Clarification-Dissolved Air Flotation) systems create millions of micro-illiobubbles that float solid particles to the surface of the water where these solids can be removed as floating sludge, usually by mechanical skimming.
