The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) granted the certification upon the company’s successful compliance with ESMA’s certification requirements. The designation applies to all window and mini-split air conditioning systems produced by Zamil Air Conditioners.
At a special ceremony held recently at ESMA headquarters in Dubai, UAE, Zamil Air Conditioners joined the list of companies that have earned this prestigious designation. Engineer Mohammad Saleh Badri, Acting Director General of ESMA, presented the Emirates Quality Mark award to Basil M. Al Zamil, Manager of Quality Management Systems at Zamil Air Conditioners, in the presence of senior officials of ESMA. Mr. Badri stated that the agency relies on certification standards to ensure that the air conditioning products imported to the UAE comply with the safety and energy efficiency requirements of ESMA, for the protection of consumers and to help them save on energy consumption.
He referenced the need to consolidate the energy efficiency tags of the air conditioning products in the GCC countries, which will lead to the unification of conformity assessment procedures to eliminate duplication and facilitate free trade.
Mr. Badri said that the products that receive the Emirates Quality Mark Certification are deemed to be of utmost quality and worthy of consumer confidence, and are routinely chosen over ordinary products due to demonstrated compliance with the specifications and technical requirements of ESMA. He explained that the UAE’s Quality Mark system aims to support the national economy by promoting the concept of quality through the designation of appropriate safety and energy efficiency specifications in order to increase the competitiveness of national products at the national and export levels.
Commenting on the recognition, Basil M. Al Zamil said: “The Emirates Quality Mark provides added value to the company portfolio and reflects the capabilities of Zamil Air Conditioners to meet international standards. The company is committed to offering the best available products under our brand to regional consumers. We will continue to strive toward becoming the benchmark for brands in our category by introducing the most energy efficient, environmentally friendly and highest quality products in the marketplace.”
The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) was founded in 2001 as the single regulatory body responsible for setting product quality specifications and standards in the United Arab Emirates. The Authority has launched the Quality Mark Certificate to confirm compliance of products that meet the approved standards of the Authority as well as global ISO specifications.
ESMA formulates and issues the national standards of UAE and adopts international and mandatory standards issued by binding resolutions of the Council Ministers. The Authority prepares standard specifications for review by specialized technical committees; follows up, monitors and advises on the application of standards to the commercial and industrial sectors with regard to the constraints of conformity and quality. It also works on consumer protection and environmental issues and implements initiatives aimed at developing the national market and strengthening the national economy.
