ZUMA was listed at number 87, representing the highest placed restaurant in the MENA region, underlining its importance on the culinary scene both regionally and internationally.
Now in their eleventh year, the S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards are organised and published by Restaurant Magazine. Despite the name, these annual awards recognise 100 restaurants as the world’s best as determined by over 900 restaurant industry experts, including food critics, chefs and restaurateurs. The experts represent 26 global regions and each have seven votes that they can only use for restaurants they have visited in the past 18 months and which they have no commercial interest in.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list is recognised around the world as the most credible indicator of the best places to eat globally. ZUMA’s unique success in the Middle East as a standard bearer of authentic Japanese cuisine, its meticulous attention to detail and innovative approach was felt to earn the restaurant a place within the Top 100 for the second year.
Ajaz Sheikh, Director of Operations for ZUMA Middle East and Turkey commented,
“I am extremely proud of this achievement by our Dubai team. To be placed in the top 100 for the second consecutive year is an incredible feat, especially when you take into consideration the size and number of covers managed each and every day, and the incredible talent worldwide. I would like to thank everyone involved for their magnificent contribution over the past 12 months.”
