Residents can register for free and pledge their support to the cause at Oasis Centre or any Centrepoint, Home Centre, Fitness First, Max and iCARE Clinics outlets in the UAE.
This year for the first time, the Group will also accept registrations online. Residents can log on to beatdiabetes.me to register for the walk.
Open to UAE residents, of all age groups, the walkathon will kick off from the Oasis Centre in Dubai on Friday 23 November. Legendary cricketer, Wasim Akram, will once again join the UAE walk. He has flagged off the 3.1 km walk for the two earlier editions.
Registered participants will receive free t-shirt, wristband and cap. Residents will also be encouraged to take the free blood glucose test at the various testing centres set up during the walk. To educate the community about the condition, awareness pamphlets will be distributed across various Landmark Group outlets on the weekend of the walk.
During November, around World Diabetes Day, the Landmark Group will host walkathons across Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and India.
Year on year, the Landmark Group conducts various activities and community outreach events as part of its on-going endeavour to spread awareness about the growing incidence of diabetes. The ‘Beat Diabetes’ walkathon is the Group’s flagship event.
