City Centre Alexandria and City Centre Maadi shopping malls will be offering complimentary heart health testing for women in Egypt under the Majid Al Futtaim ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign.
Founded by the American Heart Association in 2004, ‘Go Red for Women’ has grown into a global campaign with more than 30 participating countries. The 2014 campaign logo carries the message ‘Go Red, Go Health, Go Women,’ to raise awareness about the importance of prevention, early diagnosis, and taking control of cardiovascular disease among women.
The free testing and checkups will be offered at City Centre Alexandria from June 22 to 23 at Gate 4 and at City Centre Maadi from June 25 to 26 at Gate 3 in front of Zara. Both shopping malls have allocated areas to host medical professionals who will administer complimentary testing and conduct checkups for women, which are the necessary preventative measures against cardiovascular diseases.
At each designated location, women can check their blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI) and cholesterol levels to determine if they are prone to heart diseases or if they already have a condition that needs further follow-up and treatment. The booths in each mall will also provide cutting-edge check-up testing including ECG; one of the most advanced technologies that provide an instant diagram of the Electrocardiography – which is a recording of the electrical activity of the heart. The booths will also demonstrate briefly a video on how to deal with sudden cardiac arrest using CPR.
With the support of the American Heart Association, both malls have partnered with renowned international organizations to drive forward the “Go Red For Women” Campaign; including the Canadian Cardiac Centre – Egypt Branch, as well as Merck as medical sponsors.
“For years, we have worked closely with our local communities to provide valuable support to those in need,” said Abdulla El Nockrashy, Majid Al Futtaim Properties Country Manager for Egypt. “In line with the Go Red for Women campaign, we believe that Egyptian women deserve the right to learn more about health issues that may have a detrimental impact on their lives and their families. Education and knowledge is the key to better health for a better future,” he added.
Majid Al Futtaim is once again leading ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign in the Middle East, acting as the local partner in the region for this worldwide movement. In what is the biggest level of involvement to-date, 13 shopping malls across five nations will be offering preventative heart health testing for women region-wide.
