Since the increase in aerial density, and the rate of head maturity have slowed down, Maxtor’s current focus is on strengthening its fast drive technology to avoid data bottle necks for users. Kilic also addressed some sales related questions, where the company expects most consumer OEM PC systems to adopt a 30, 60, 120 GB capacity roadmap for the back-to-school and the Christmas seasons, whereas commercial OEM PC systems are expected to continue to use the established 20GB, 40GB and 80 GB capacity roadmap.
“This is a very interesting time for our industry, because things are stabilizing after a period of growth and technological breakthroughs,” commented Kilic, “we have performed brilliantly in this region over the past year, and achieved tremendous growth, the important for us now is to keep the momentum going, by staying close to our industry and our market and sharing this knowledge with our partners”
The conference was followed by an awards ceremony, thanking channel partners in recognition of their efforts and contribution to Maxtor’s success in the region. Six resellers received the Maxtor-FDC excellence award for ‘supporting regional Maxtor HDD sales’ and twelve resellers others were recognised for ‘supporting Maxtor HDD sales’.

Safe, FDC’s managing director, “we believe that we can build on the great work that has been achieved so far by staying in close contact and sharing market data throughout the channel”
“The Middle East is still performing very well for us, thanks to the unwavering efforts of our channel partners in raising awareness of the Maxtor brand name” said Kilic. “Our objective for the rest of the year and onwards, is to maintain our market lead in desktop and consumer electronics, 35% and 42.5% market share respectively, and ensure that the market is fully aware of Maxtor’s technologies and products whilst maintaining focus on the supply chain.”
