Maxtor’s regional expansion is right on track

Improved market intelligence combined with a focus on specific product groups – Enterprise, Desktop and Branded products (external consumer storage solutions) – have enabled Maxtor to offer a more customer-centric service to its customers in the region, providing them with innovative solutions that cater to their specific storage needs.

“With the aid of key market intelligence and working closely with our partners on the ground, we have refined our business strategy for the region to ensure that Maxtor is strongly positioned to meet & exceed the storage needs of end users in the Middle East & Africa market,” said Rajeev Mukul, GM, Maxtor Middle East & Africa.

One element of Maxtor’s new business strategy involves having specialized partners in place to address customer storage needs in a more focused way. The recent appointments of Maxtor’s first retail partner in the UAE, Delta Business Products and Jarir Bookstore in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are a testament to this.

In addition, Maxtor has started to appoint ‘in-country’ distribution partners, M.A.S in Egypt and Jarir Bookstore in KSA being the most recent. More retail & in-country partner appointments are in the pipeline. Maxtor’s regional distributors, Almasa & FDC (ME region), Sahara (Africa), and TechData & eSys (global) are strengthening their own presence in individual countries within their market coverage.

In tandem, Maxtor is working closely with its distributors to design & execute marketing activities which are customized for the region. As part of its customer education and training effort, Maxtor MEA are in the process of conducting a number of product seminars and workshops in association with its channel partners to address the needs of sales personnel, technical support staff and end users.

Maxtor MEA also identified that the customer support & warranty process needed improvement in the region, which resulted in the establishment of Maxtor RMA (Return Material Authorization) collection in Jebel Ali Free Zone in May 2005. This center is designed to facilitate the process for distributors to send defective products within the UAE for faster processing of warranty claims.
