Taking on from last year’s theme of connecting SME’s with the community, this year the focus was on improving customer service through social media. With the rapid acceptance of Social media as a key presence for brands globally, the brand-customer gap has reduced drastically.
Customers are now empowered to directly speak with brands without the lengthy processes involved with visiting company websites to open the lines of communication and receive a response. Often, these responses are received by customers in real time with the activation of dedicated Social Media.
According to statistics, there are over 3.6 million active Facebook users and over 300,000 twitter users in the UAE. The UAE alone generates over 2.5 million tweets a day.

Dajani, Digital Manager, UAE highlighted the role of Social Media in Customer Service in detail with Dave Crane closing the session with a discussion on ‘Giving brands a personality via Social Media’.
