The Middle East and North Africa Business Aviation Association (MEBAA) have announced that Benoit Defforge, Managing Director, Airbus Corporate Jets and Renaud Cloatre,
International Sales Director for Dassault Aviation have been elected to its board to help represent the needs of manufacturers in the Middle East and North Africa.
Defforge oversees Airbus Corporate Jets business globally, his position is a combination of his previous role as Head of the Airbus Corporate Jet Centre, whilst Cloatre was appointed Falcon business jets Regional Sales Director in 2009 and is now responsible for international sales based from the UAE.
The appointments come at a time when demand for business aviation manufacturing is at an all-time high in the Middle East and North Africa, with an average order of 18 new planes being delivered each year replacing aircraft, which on average, are 13.5 years old across the region.
“Benoit and Renaud’s appointment to the board is reflective of the association’s commitment towards a cohesive industry that can provide comprehensive support for the customer” said MEBAA Founding Chairman, Ali Al Naqbi, “Encouraging OEMs to prioritise their business in the Middle East and North Africa will create a more seamless network between the end user, the operators, MROs and manufactures. Both Benoit and Renaud are equally dedicated to the cause and will deliver tremendous value, experience, advice and action.”
Speaking about his appointment Renaud Cloatre said; “As business aviation develops, it must do so under a regulatory environment that is focused on safety and productivity. Helping MEBAA build bridges with the appropriate authorities is critical towards establishing the framework that will aid OEMs to develop business aviation in the Middle East and North Africa.”
Benoit Defforge added; “MEBAA has made such significant progress promoting and professionalizing business aviation in the region. Helping to contribute to its very bright future through Airbus and its network is a role we take very seriously.”
