Microsoft and Bahrain eGovernment Authority (eGA) renewed their strategic partnership agreement for the 7th consecutive year for the world’s premier student competition “Imagine Cup” 2014 in Bahrain.
The partnership agreement was signed by eGovernment Authority’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mohammad Ali Al Qaed and Microsoft Bahrain and Oman’s Regional Country Manager Mr. Tareq Hijazi. The signing ceremony took place at eGA’s Headquarters in Muharraq and was witnessed by senior management team of both organizations.
Commenting on this long-term partnership, Mohammad Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive Officer of the eGovernment Authority (eGA) reaffirmed eGA’s commitment in providing youngsters in Bahrain with opportunities that offer share of knowledge, practical training and international platforms to explore their creative abilities and show their innovation.
“We are honored to continue supporting the Microsoft Imagine Cup since the establishment for all the values it brings to our youngsters – be it knowledge, exposure, team building skills or self-esteem. We have seen the constructive impact of the competition on our students over the last few years and we hope to see more youth on our national team representing Bahrain and the Arab World in the world’s finals – taking place in Seattle,” said the CEO while applauding Microsoft’s efforts and contribution to the development of the Bahraini youth.
The National Bahrain round of Imagine Cup is happening for the third consecutive year as part of Microsoft, and its partners’ commitment to empowering the youth in Bahrain by encouraging them to develop their innovative skills as well as empowering them for entrepreneurship set of mind to move forward with their ideas. The Imagine Cup 2013 Competition in Bahrain received more than 760 registrations and a total of 20 projects were submitted.
Tareq Hijazi, Regional Country Manager for Microsoft in Bahrain and Oman expressed his thankfulness to Bahrain eGovernment Authority for joining hands with Microsoft for another round of the Imagine Cup Competition; he said “We are happy to see eGA on board for this year’s competition too, we value their collaboration and trust and we praise their determination in creating a better future for Bahrain’s youth and ultimately the society at large.”
Hijazi reconfirmed the fact that the Imagine Cup Competition is more than just a competition, “it is” he said “the first step in the participants’ journey to entering the corporate world and becoming entrepreneurs.” He encouraged students and fresh graduates to participate in this year’s round urging them “not to be afraid to submit their unconventional ideas for every entrepreneur needs to take a leap of faith to make a difference in the world.”
