Microsoft Gulf issued a report on how its Cloud services are enabling small businesses to grow at a fast pace and improving efficiency.
SMBs play a critical role in fueling national economies, often functioning as a primary driver of job and economic growth. This innovation, energy and passion translate into creating jobs, building communities and providing opportunities. That’s why Microsoft is committed to helping SMBs realize their full potential through technology access and resources.
“SMBs represent over 90 % of the UAE’s private sector – recent research commissioned by Microsoft reveals that SMEs that use Microsoft cloud services grow faster than those who do not,” said, Ihsan Anabtawi, Microsoft Office Division Business Group Lead at Microsoft Gulf. “Microsoft is the brand that small businesses trust and use to power their growth to solve their toughest business problems,” he added.
Recently, SwitzGroup, a food manufacturing chain and one of the largest producers of samosa leaves in the world have moved its IT into the cloud to save money and leverage the enormous benefits Office 365 has to offer. The company moved to a cloud based infrastructure soon after it realized that its clients needed a more secure and uniform platform to perform efficiently. The new Office 365 which includes Exchange Online, Lync, and SharePoint has sorted SwitzGroups primary issue of inefficient email system.
“We have effectively consolidated communications across a large and diverse business group. We now have a strong platform with the latest technology features to host our emails and manage communications with minimum resources,” Kiran S. Arya, CIO Middle East, SwitzGroup.
Office 365 brings together the best of Microsoft’s collaboration and communication tools, and makes them available online – ensuring one can access them anytime, anywhere and on any device. Sanipex, a market leading supplier of quality bathrooms, tiles and plumbing materials, chose the latest Exchange over their current email system so as to shift from CAPEX to cost effective REVEX model over 3 years.
“Office 365 has made it much easier for me to provide a secure and robust email solution. I effectively have Microsoft experts taking care of my email system so I can focus on my business systems,” said, Ben Ralph, CIO, Sanipex Group (Parent company of BAGNODESIGN).
Super Group, an international business conglomerate, was keen to adopt leading edge technologies to help drive the business forward. SuperGroup was able to successfully deploy Office 365 and reduce cost while making the operations efficient. In addition the flexible system allowed the company to add new employees as it grew.
“Investing in Office 365 has made life easier. We are now able to work from anywhere and anytime. Our Microsoft partner, IOTAP provided us with the right level of guidance in selecting and implementing Office 365,”said, Neeraj Kalwani, Managing Director, Super Group of Companies.
According to the State of SMEs Report published by Dubai SME early this year, only 21% of SMEs surveyed indicated deployment of advanced IT systems (ERP, CRM) to manage their business operations. Even though 70% of SMEs use basic (software for specific functions) or advanced IT systems, only 35% make an accounting provision for IT expenses in their annual budgets. The report also revealed that only 6% of SMEs surveyed had online ordering capabilities. Therefore, there are opportunities for SMEs to upgrade their operations by enhancing their ICT adoption for better performance. Leveraging cloud technology is a major strategic solution for SMEs to improve their ICT capabilities and solve their toughest business problems.
