United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 14 - 2010 @ 10:45

MA Marketing Communications (MAMC) Dubai Centre Programme Coordinator Dr. Alun Epps said that, “Dominique impressed the panel with her out-of-the-box thinking, obvious yen for marketing communications as well as her drive and tenacity. She will be first-class ambassador and a shining example of excellence for the both the course and university.”

The MAMC is one of the University’s most popular post-graduate qualifications and has had a bumper enrolment this academic year. The masters, which is delivered in the evenings, can be completed as a part-time course over two years or as a full-time degree with the students studying at the university for four and sometimes five evenings per week.

Dubai Campus Director Professor Raed Awamleh stated, “We are very proud of our MAMC programme and I congratulate Ms. Zawisza on her monumental achievement in winning this highly coveted scholarship. This is our first full scholarship for a post-graduate degree here at Middlesex University Dubai and it is hoped that all of our six masters programmes, that traverse the fields of; education, psychology, computing, human resources management and of course the flagship MBA, will soon follow suit, with scholarships from other first class firms here in the UAE.”

Middlesex University Dubai is delighted to have Fortune Promoseven as its industry partner for the MAMC. Fortune Promoseven is part of MCN, the largest group of advertising, marketing and media agencies in the Middle East and North Africa. Promoseven, being part of MCN, is part of the Interpublic Group, one of the largest agency groups in the world and is also affiliated with McCann Worldgroup. The university and agency collaborate closely with guest lectures, industry workshops as well as internships and placements for students.

The last word must go to Dominique herself, who studied Product & Furniture Design at the prestigious Ravensbourne College of Design & Communication in London, UK as her first BA (Hons) degree and currently works as a Business Development Executive – Design Specialist at Honeywell ME here in Dubai “I was elated to be awarded the scholarship and I am delighted to be amongst such a diverse cohort of students” stated Ms. Zawisza, “My career has been heading in the marketing communications direction for years now and after conducting extensive research, I conclude that the Middlesex MAMC is the only masters degree in the country to offer such a unique blend of theory and application. After the first week, I have come to realise that there is a great deal of material to digest and all of it relevant to this specific vocation at such an interesting time for the industry. To be presented with this opportunity from the region’s foremost advertising agency is not only an honour, but also a solid platform to which I can launch into the marketing communications arena that I am so passionate to enter.”

The origins of Middlesex University London date back to 1878 and it is one of only a handful British Universities to have been awarded three Queen’s anniversary prizes. In 2007, Middlesex was ranked third in London for Teaching and Learning (HEFCE) and the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) rated research at Middlesex as ‘Top 10 among new UK universities’.

The Dubai campus is an integral part of Middlesex University and is subject to the same rigorous quality assurance procedures. The UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education’s (QAA) has given its top-most rating to Middlesex University in 2009. QAA identified as ‘good practice’ the meticulous attention given to the establishment, development and integration of the University’s Dubai campus. The University was praised for assuring that learning opportunities in Dubai are comparable to those available to students in London. The campus is also licensed by the Dubai government’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Furthermore, the University Quality Assurance International Board (UQAIB) at KHDA reviews all programmes on offer in Dubai to ensure that the quality of programmes taught in Dubai are equivalent to those at the home campus in London.
