The number of schools offering Cambridge qualifications in Jordan has risen by 38 percent over the past year. This year schools in Jordan made over 1000 exam entries for Cambridge International AS and A Level. This increase is part of a 17% global increase in schools now using the qualifications offered by Cambridge International Examinations part of the prestigious Cambridge University.

Jordan is leading the charge of schools in the region choosing the qualifications. Cambridge International AS and A Levels are now being taken by countries across the Middle East each year including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. There are now over 550 schools across the Middle East taking Cambridge international qualifications.

The core subjects that remain most popular among learners in Jordan at Cambridge International A Level are Maths, Physics and ICT.

Parents, learners and educators in the region say that the most important benefit of Cambridge International A Levels is that they not only provide access to leading universities in Jordan and worldwide but also equip students with the skills to succeed at university and in life beyond.

May Goussous, Principal of High School, National Orthodox School, Amman said: “We have been using Cambridge International Examinations’ A Level and AS Levels for more than 10 years. They have a wide range of syllabuses that are really up-to-date. Not only do they use the latest educational techniques but are also practical and down to earth. Moreover they provide a lot of support and guidance to teachers. We chose Cambridge’s curriculum because it is chosen by serious students, who want to work for exams that equip them with knowledge and life-long skills”.

Waseem Al Hanbali, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Cambridge International Examinations, said: “We are incredibly proud of our growth in Jordan particularly in schools choosing our international A levels which are giving our students unprecedented access to leading universities both at home and worldwide.”
