The Jordanian Ministry of Labour issued a report in mid-July which recommends vocational training be promoted among the Jordan’s youth as fewer than 3% of this group currently enrol in this type of training. The report, released in collaboration with the UN Development Programme, said youth must be offered “easier access to financial resources” to help them prepare for careers in the industrial crafts sector, Al Shorfa reported. It suggested that private sector companies forge partnerships to boost enrolment in vocational training and recommended that all regions provide vocational training facilities. The report also emphasised the need to reform the vocational education and training curricula in order to improve their outcomes and promote vocational training as a desirable option.
