95% of the Dhs70m maintenance work in public school has been completed, The Ministry of Education announced. Amal Al Koos, Assistant Undersecretary of Activities and School Environment at the ministry, said the remaining maintenance work will be completed during the academic year after students finish their school day, Gulf News reported. The schools with incomplete maintenance work are mainly located in Dubai and Sharjah. “We will make sure that the work will not intervene with the students’ education. It will only start once the students have left the school to make sure that it will not affect their educational environment.” Amal said there has been a delay in maintenance work due to various factors. “The companies hired to complete the work had trouble finding enough labourers, especially with the boom in the construction industry. The shortened working hours of labourers during Ramadan as per the laws set by the Ministry of Public works, also caused the maintenance to be delayed.”
